Kaʻaʻawa Valley prints
Prints of Kaʻaʻawa Valley and the Kualoa ridges on Oʻahu's windward coast, the Jurassic Valley, made at sunrise from the shore, the ridges and the air.
Kaʻaʻawa Valley sits on the windward side of Oʻahu, where the Kualoa ridges rise almost straight up from the coast. Visitors know it as Jurassic Valley. It has stood in for other worlds in the Jurassic Park films, Jumanji, Kong: Skull Island and more than one Godzilla.
The ridges face the morning sun, so they light up gold at sunrise. That's when most of these were made: from the shoreline at Waikāne in Kaʻaʻawa Sunrise, from high above the neighboring valley of Hakipuʻu in Hanohano Hakipuʻu, and from a drone over the coastline in Jumanji and Jurassic Dawn.
In Kuamoʻo, ironwood branches frame the ridge. In the old stories, that ridge is the spine of a giant moʻo, a lizard that lay down along the shore to rest. The little islet offshore, Mokoliʻi, shows up in several of these frames and has a page of its own.
