Privacy policy

This policy covers kawikalopez.com, run by Kawika Lopez Photography, a business of Veex Photo LLC in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi. "We" means Kawika and the business. The short version: we collect what we need to make and deliver your print or answer your message, we don't sell it, and you can ask us to delete it.

What we collect

• When you order: your name, email, phone number, shipping address, the prints you bought, and any note you add at checkout.
• When you write to us: your name, email, the print you ask about, and your message.
• When you browse: the pages you visit and basic details about your browser and device, through Google Analytics, and your IP address in our host's security logs.

We never see or store your card number.

How we use it

To make, check and deliver your print, to answer your questions, to keep records of sales for tax purposes, and to understand which pages are useful. We don't use it for advertising.

Who else sees it

• Stripe processes payments. The payment form on our cart page is Stripe's. Stripe collects transaction details and details about your device, including through cookies, to process your payment and prevent fraud. If you save your details with Link, that account is Stripe's service. See Stripe's privacy policy.
• Google runs two small services for us: the one that prices shipping from the prints in your cart and the state and ZIP code you enter (it doesn't keep a copy), and the contact form, which saves messages to a private spreadsheet.
• Google Analytics counts visits and shows which pages lead to a sale. It uses cookies and receives your IP address and browser details. When you buy, it records which prints and the order total, never your name, email, address or card. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
• Our printing and shipping partners receive your name, address and phone number, only as far as they need them to make and deliver your print.
• Our email forwarding service passes mail you send to info@kawikalopez.com on to Kawika's inbox.
• GitHub Pages hosts the site and records visitors' IP addresses for security, as most hosts do.

We don't sell or rent your information, and we don't send marketing email unless you ask for it.

Cookies and your browser

The prints you add to your cart are saved in your own browser so they're still there when you come back. That list stays on your device until you check out.

Google Analytics and Stripe set cookies, and both may collect information about your activity over time and across other websites that use their services. You can block them with any content blocker; the site still works, though Stripe needs its own scripts to take a payment.

Browsers can send a "Do Not Track" signal. There's no agreed standard for it, so this site doesn't currently respond to it.

How long we keep it

Order records are kept as long as tax law requires, usually about seven years. Messages are kept as long as they're useful for answering you or for a later order. Analytics data is kept for 14 months.

Your choices

Want to see what we have, correct it, or have it deleted? Email info@kawikalopez.com or call (808) 204-4575 and we'll take care of it. We keep only what the law requires, such as tax records of a sale.

Children

This site isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If we learn that we have, we'll delete it.

If something goes wrong

If customer information we hold is ever exposed, we'll tell the people affected as Hawaiʻi law requires.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version goes on this page with a new effective date at the top. If a change affects how we use information you've already given us, we'll email you first. For how orders, shipping and returns work, see the terms of sale.
