About this photograph
I created this image in my early days as a photographer. Hiking along the ridge above Makapuʻu beach during sunrise, I found a stunning vantage point to photograph the coastline leading out to the lighthouse. The sun was coming up just over the cliffs in the distance and the clouds were being blown left to right. This was the perfect opportunity for a long exposure. Totaling 120 seconds, the extended exposure smoothed out the ocean and stretched the clouds to create a time warp effect while maintaining sharpness in the landscape itself.
