About this photograph
I made this on the Mauna Kea Access Road, on my way down the mountain after photographing the Milky Way overnight at the summit. Near the end of the road, as I came up on Saddle Road, the cloud line sat just right. Puʻu Huluhulu, an old cinder cone covered in forest, was barely breaking through it, like an island in the sky.
